When you buy Niman Ranch pork, you're getting pork that tastes the way pork used to taste—juicy and well-marbled, firm with a delicious aroma and outstanding taste.

Unlike most hogs which are raised in confinement feeding operations, our hogs are raised on small family farms. This old-fashioned way produces great-eating pork, is humane to animals and is kind to the earth. Although this traditional system requires more hard work than the modern confinement alternative, the benefits far outweigh the costs.

Cattle

Our hogs are allowed to root, roam and run in accordance with their natural instincts. The sows will farrow in the deep-bedded hay, then the piglets will run free until the weather grows cold and they're brought inside for comfort.

Our pigs eat energy-rich foods like corn and alfalfa—often grown right on the farm. They're never fed animal byproducts and they never get subjected to antibiotics subtherapeutically or to accelerate growth. We're proud that our pork growing partnership was the very first recipient of the "Approved" shield of the Animal Welfare Institute, recognizing family farms that follow the highest standards for the humane treatment of farm animals.

Unlike most meat producers, we test every carcass for pH, or acid balance, as one of the best indicators of pork quality. High pH means the animal was raised and slaughtered without stress and the meat will be firm when cooked and will not exude water.

From our delicious crown roasts to award-winning applewood smoked bacon, we are sure you will agree that Niman Ranch pork is second to none.
